Introducing The Ultimate Reset – Beachbody Ultimate Reset

April 16th, 2012

Beachbody’s Ultimate Reset has been released!  Here is a video describing the reset and what it will do for you.

I’ve been reading a lot about systemic responses, especially the role inflammation plays in heart disease.  Toxins, foods we eat, stress, all can play a part in inflammation.  When you are chronically fatigued, you start developing problems:  Higher cholesterol, blood pressure, and other cardiovascular issues.

In other words, fighting inflammation is extremely important to avoiding heart disease and related illnesses.

Taking it one step further, eliminating the need for processed foods, especially sugars, can drastically reduce inflammation as well as your chance of being a Type 2 Diabetic (and yes, you can become type 2 without being overweight).

I’m the first to admit when I saw the Ultimate Reset I was intrigued.  And then I was concerned as it moves you to a strict vegan diet for 2 weeks (with one week being nothing but fruits and veggies….but something I could definitely handle).  After all, I love my meat.  But the reason why this is a short term (21 day) cleanse is to not detract you from eating your normal healthy foods but rather have your body take in food that is nutrient rich with ease of digestion.  Fruits and veggies are great for this over a short term.

With my thoughts out of the way, here is some more info:

The reset is based around 6 supplements and eating clean.  VERY clean.  It is a fairly regimented program and will take some discipline and support (that’s why I am putting together an Ultimate Reset Challenge Group).  It also includes NO EXERCISE!  Hard to believe that Beachbody would put out something like that, but it is for a reason.  Exercise produces a mild inflammatory reaction in the body, albeit a positive one.  The goal of the reset is to minimize inflammation.  So giving up exercise for 21 days will not be the end of the world.

So who is the reset for?

1.   It is NOT for just those that are overweight….although you will probably lose weight on it.
2.  It is NOT just for people who need to eat better.  Athletes can use this too to improve their body and function.
3.  It is NOT just for people with inflammatory conditions, although they would greatly benefit from it.

In short, the Beachbody Ultimate Reset is for everyone.  I plan on using it once I can break free from physical therapy for 3 weeks (i.e. the no exercise portion).  The more I read about our food sources, and the more I heard about the Ultimate Reset, the more I knew this is something that I will (and need to) do.

The  6 supplements?

1.  Alkanalyze – To restore your body’s pH balance.
2.  Oxygenize – Liquid oxygen that helps eliminate toxins.
3.  Mineralize – Natural healthy salts to introduce trace minerals back to the digestive track.
4.  Revitalize – Natural Pre and Probiotics.
5.  Optimize – Systemic emzymes to help reduce inflammation.
6.  Detox – Restore optimal digestive health.

All  6 of these products are made with organic, natural ingredients (no chemicals here).  Combine these with Tropical Strawberry Shakeology (the only Shakeology product allowed during the reset) for optimal health, resetting your body, your metabolism, and your digestion to its ideal state.

For maintenance, they suggest continuing to take Alkanalyze and Optimize along with Tropical Shakeology.

The Long Road Of Rehab

November 2nd, 2011

Well, it has been a LONG time since I’ve written anything on this blog.  Some people have started asking me privately where my posting went on P90X or fitness in general, so I thought I would take the time to let everyone know what is up in my world.

If you’ve followed my blog for a while you know that I have had shoulder issues for quite some time.  Most of the workouts I do from Beachbody invovle upper body work (pull-ups, push-ups, shoulder presses, flies, etc).  After the last couple of years of the pain getting worse, and then having my shoulders completely fail on my during my latest round of P90X, I knew it was time to seek medical attention.

At the end of August I started increasing my visits to a chiropractor to get things adjusted.  After 2 weeks of absolutely no relief there, I knew it was time to see an orthopedic (I was very afraid of a cuff tear at this point).

On October 5th, I was diagnosed with bursitis/tendonitis in both shoulders.  I also have bicepital (spelling?) tendonitis in my left arm which explains why the pain was shooting all the way down to my elbow.

So right now I am in physical therapy 3 days a week.

I can say that mobility has improved in the right shoulder tremendously.  I’m able to move that arm now pain free in directions I could not before.  But resistance on that arm still causes severe discomfort.

My left arm has not improved much at all.  We are still trying to aggressively treat it, but it simply is not improving.

I go back to the orthopedic on November 15th, at which point I’m probably going to have cortisone injections to help get the joints to heal faster.

On top of the shoulder issues, I’ve had project after project at work which have kept me very busy, hence the lack of blog post coming out.  I’m committed to keep this blog going and updating everyone on my fitness journey.

In fact, I’ve just entered a 45 day challenge with another couple vs my wife and I.  Goal is inches lost between now and December 15th.  This is the hardest time of year for a challenge for me because…well, I love sweets this time of year (I rarely have them January – August, but something about October – December makes me want them more).  I’ve gained just a little bit back since I had to stop P90X completely but have already started losing some of it again.

My diet also has not been the best, but working on improving that tremendously.  My main focus is controlled calorie count, a wise selection of how much I consume/what I consume, and then getting into an exercise routine that keeps me moving (which is hard….I LOVED my upper body workouts, and now I can do nothing with my arms outside of the training I do with the therapist).

So, that’s that.  My goal is by December 15th to be back to a fairly slim point and hopefully getting ready for a round of P90X2 starting sometime in January, provided the shoulders cooperate.

P90X2 – Pre-Order The New P90X (P90X2) September 1

August 18th, 2011

P90X 2 is due out the 4th quarter of 2011 (hopefully, barring any final delays).  In fact, through a Beachbody Coach like me, pre-orders for P90X2 start September 1st.

So what is different from P90X2 from P90X?

A LOT!  In particular, P90X2 involves itself in more advance training methods than what the original P90X has.  Beachbody reached out to a national training center that works with professional athletes to help Tony and the entire Beachbody team develop an intense, effective workout using training methods that top professional athletes use.

In particular, the uses of Post Potentiation Activation (PAP) is introduced in P90X2.  I had the privilege of doing a workout with Tony Horton while at Beachbody’s The Summit in June.  He gave all of us an introduction to PAP on a smaller scale.  As someone who just finished Insanity and worked out very regularly, this workout still made me fairly sore.  My abs were sore for 3 days!

If you want to be notified of the pre-order, drop me an email to brent@getfitwithbrent.com and I will put you on my list of contacts when pre-order is officially available.
Psst….I should also tell you, Beachbody Coaches save 25% on all Beachbody products, as well as get a chance to make some money promoting what has worked so well for us.  If you are interested, this is a great opportunity to get paid to promote wellness.  Find out more about being a coach here:  http://www.GetFitWithBrent.com/CoachInfo

P90X2 – P90X:MC2 – Preview The New P90X

June 27th, 2011

Not going to write a whole lot here, just know that there is a new P90X coming out very soon called P90X2 or P90X:MC2.  Pre-orders should hit late August with the anticipated ship date to be before Christmas.

Instead of writing a lot about it here, here are a couple of videos I took at the Beachbody Summit that has some info and interviews with Tony Horton and others regarding P90X2.

I’ll write more later.

Shakeology Free Samples

June 24th, 2011

free shakeology samplesMy wife and I have been using Shakeology for around 14 months now. When I first tried it, I did it because I was curious what all the fuss my Beachbody coach was making about the product. After all, I was already drinking a protein shake and taking supplements.

After a couple of weeks on the product, I noticed a HUGE difference in how I felt. And the few times we’ve run out before the next order came in, I could tell a big difference in how I felt those days, too.

My wife agrees. Recently we went 9 days without any Shakeology. As a stay at home mom of three kids, she keeps busy watching them, cleaning house, chasing them around, keeping them entertained and not bored…well, you get the point.

During those 9 days without it, she knew something was wrong. Finally it dawned on her: No Shakeology!

Sure enough, after we got it back in, her energy recovered. She felt like she could keep up again.

One of the biggest advantages to the product for me is not weight loss but rather craving control. I used to love sweets. Chocolate and cheesecake were always two of my big weaknesses. Shakeology seems to keep my desire for carbs/sugars under control. Now, I just have sweets for an occasional treat, not a must-have to satisfy an urge!

I believe in this product so much that I want to let those who want to try it have a free sample (as available). But I want you to know a bit more about the product and why I know it will help you lose weight, get energy, feel better, and be healthier.

For starters, watch this video. This has a LOT of doctors talking about Shakeology, how healthy it is, and why you should take it.

A lot of people look at this, try the shake, like it, but think it’s “too expensive.” I don’t apologize for the price. When I used to eat out for lunch everyday, I used to spend $7-10 a day just eating lunch. Over 5 days a week, that’s $35-$50 a week eating stuff that was 700+ calories. It’s no wonder why I ballooned the way I did! With Shakeology, you are getting 140 calories (400 if you mix it per my suggestion or many of the other recipes we have) for $4 a day. So over 30 days not only are you consuming thousands of calories less, you are also saving money.

I will be more than happy to send you a sample of this amazing product, but I have to be your Team Beachbody coach yet. If I am not your coach and you do not have one yet, you can request for me to be your coach by visiting here. If you already have a coach and they are not giving you a sample, drop me an email (brent@getfitwithbrent.com) and I will tell you the steps that have to happen to become your coach and provide you with a sample.

If I am already your coach, drop me an email (brent@getfitwithbrent.com) with your address and I will send one to you.

Of course, one sample may not be enough. If you want to try a full bag and see for yourself, you can click the link below to order Shakeology. Remember, it comes with a “bottom of the bag” guarantee, so there’s no risk for you trying it.
