Shakeology Cleanse – Day 3 (P90X Day 26 Core Synergistics)

July 18th, 2010

Friday was day 3 of my Shakeology cleanse.  It was also Core Synergistics day, the day I figured would be the hardest of all the days.  Amazingly, I woke up with a ton of energy and muscled through the routine fairly well.

But late in the day, all my energy was gone.  I was down enough to where I could not take in my final shake.  Just could not muscle it in.  So I skipped straight to the salad for supper.

Final weight loss from the cleanse was 2.4 pounds.  Not bad for 3 days.

Shakeology Cleanse Day 2 (P90X Day 25 – Cardio X, X Stretch)

July 15th, 2010

Ok, so on to day 2 of the Shakeology cleanse.

First, an update.  Hopped on the scale this morning to see my weight down 1.4 pounds.  What that means, I’m not sure.  I’m going to assume that some was water, some was toxins, and know that to make sure I’m doing things right to keep hydrating.

I started today by doing Cardio X.  I was a bit unsure about doing it, since my energy levels were lower (as was expected, and should be expected).  But on the flip side, I wanted to burn something, and X Stretch just doesn’t do it for me.  I ended up burning 420 calories, so not much less than normal.

Today my energy was a bit lower except for the little bit after having something to eat.  I did not feel as hungry today until after I ate a solid at supper.  I expect energy to be a bit lower, though, since I’m consuming a bit more than 1/3rd (calculated intake to be around 800 calories or so, so quite a bit lower than normal).  I could probably stand to add some almonds or flax seeds to what I’m doing, but do not have any on hand or else I would…..some raw almonds actually sound REALLY good!

This afternoon during X Stretch I could tell that my body was ready for a solid.  My salad tonight was great…just wish it was more!

Tomorrow morning will be a big challenge.  It is Core Synergistics, and takes quite a bit more energy than anything I’ve done yet.  My goal:  Survival!  Just kidding….but seriously, my goal is to do my best, and forget the rest.  I feel like I’ve heard that somewhere before….

Day 3 tomorrow.  Looking forward to Saturday and eating a carb or two!

Shakeology Cleanse Day 1 (And P90X Day 24 – Kenpo X)

July 14th, 2010

Today was the first day of the Shakeology cleanse I decided to do.

I was a bit amazed at how well it went until around 7pm tonight.

I started out with P90X Kenpo X (P9oX day 24, in the middle of the first recovery week).  I had a pretty good burn, a bit over 600 calories according to the heart rate monitor.  I usually do not do Kenpo due to the fact that I feel there are routines that give me a great burn in less time, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

So begins the cleanse.  Right after exercising, I had a cup of green tea.  This was my first green tea experience, and I rather enjoyed it.  No sweeteners, just straight brewed tea (the tea does have natural honey and lemon flavors, which I did not particularly care for).

For breakfast, 1 scoop Shakeology, 1/2 cup banana, 8 oz water, and some ice.  YUM!

For my mid morning snack, I had an apple.  Up to this point I was not too hungry.

By the time I had lunch at 1pm, I was hungry.  1 scoop Shakeology, 8 oz water, and some ice.  For some reason, this tasted very sweet to me (almost too sweet).  That’s odd, considering how little sugar (fructose) Shakeology has.

Mid-afternoon snack was another Shakeology.  Had a friend try it with me.

Right before dinner is the first time I felt “drained” all day.  In fact, most of the day I had a lot of energy.  For supper, I had a salad with mixed greens and iceburg lettuce, tomato, bell pepper, and 4 oz grilled chicken with 3 tbsp of light Italian Dressing (has EVOO which is why I wanted it).  It was so nice having my first solid food since 10:30am.

What suprised me was how little I was actually hungry and how much energy I had all day.  I’m used to a recovery drink post workout, a protein shake, and a protein bar all before noon.  My body stayed energized though until it was time to eat supper.  As of writing this, I am a bit tired, but not feeling real drained.

Tomorrow will be the challenge.  Let’s see how exercise goes in the morning.  I’m either doing Cardio X in the morning/Stretch X in the afternoon, or just Stretch X.  I need a calorie burn, though.

P90X And The Shakeology Cleanse

July 13th, 2010

Beachbody’s Shakeology has a “cleanse” cycle that can be used with P90X.

The point of the cleanse is simple:  A low calorie, high nutrient approach over  short period of time combined with a light to moderate exercise routine to help boost metabolism, break through a weight loss/fat loss plateau, and give you a healthier feeling after 3 days.

So for the next three days, I’ll be taking 3 shakes a day for the next 3 days with a modest amount of fruit, veggies, and a bit of protein.  Considering I’m in the P90X recover week, the workouts are not intense on the body.

What are my goals?

Well, if I lose weight, I consider it a victory.  My main goal is to get my metabolism in a higher gear for phase 2 of P90X.  I would like to see some fat burn happen, even more than what is going on.

I’ll post starting stats tomorrow and ending stats on Friday night.

P90X Day 89 – Core Synergistics, And Shakeology Excitement

April 16th, 2010

Today was P90X Day 89, Core Synergistics.  I spent yesterday afternoon on a golf course and had to make a late night (well, late for me) run to pick up something that I had left in someone else’s vehicle…and that someone else just happened to live out of town.

So, I was a bit more tired physically today.  Not so bad that I did not give it a good run, but tired nonetheless.  I picked too heavy of a weight for side step lunge and reach near the beginning which also tired me a bit faster.  I dropped my weight a bit on some other things to try to work on form and reps.  It ended up being a really good workout…a really, really good sweat!

This weekend my wife and I are going to try our order of Shakeology.  I have a huge level of excitement about this, as I have heard a ton of good things from a lot of different people.

I mean, I drink protein shakes every morning, and none of them taste perfect and do not have nearly the nutrition value Shakeology has.  So I’m sure it will be great compared to what I am used to.

I will be taking photos, video, measurements, etc, this weekend, and I will probably do a video on Shakeology.  Granted I would not have had it enough to see the benefits that it has, but I will talk about the taste, how I made it, etc.

Check back here tomorrow for my P90X round 1 finally.  I’m looking forward to a great Yoga session tomorrow.
