P90X Day 15 and 16 – Chest And Back, Ab Ripper X, Plyo X

January 20th, 2010

I’ve got to do a better job blogging about my P90X routine….and I apologize for not being more “up to date.” Work and business have kept me busy.

Day 15 for P90X for me was Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X. My C&B routine was good. In fact, I felt the shake in my chest the entire day (increased either the number I did or how I did them on almost everything, the exception being declines where I barely increased in round 1 and stayed the same in round 2).

I ran out of steam in Ab Ripper. Not a good thing, but something I’m working to fix by taking in about 200 more calories a day

Today was Plyo X (P90X Day 16). I have been put on an oral steroid to treat an allergic reaction I’ve had to the antibiotic cephelexin. It caused a rash all over my body. My heart was racing when I first woke up, so I did not push as hard today with Plyo for concerns my heart rate might get out of control. I stayed around 150 for most of the actual workout, though, and according to my Duo 1025 burned around 930 calories (which I’ve requested to know how accurate that is from the company).

I did learn something very important about my diet today: My sodium intake is way, way too high. This is something I need to fix ASAP. Several of the foods I have on my diet are high in sodium, so I have to spread out how I eat those foods (not all in one day). For instance, 3oz of lean ham has around 900mg. I used deli sliced turkey today for another 700mg. 1% cottage cheese had 900mg. All in all, I had over 5,000mg of sodium today…about 2000 – 2500 too much.

I’m going to be trying to reduce that over the next few days. Will have to manage this very carefully and weight out my options on meals to keep this number low.
