P90X Round 2 Day 3 – Shoulders And Arms, Ab Ripper X, And Learning About P90X And Starvation Mode

Day 3 is one of my favs – P90x Shoulders and Arms….and Ab Ripper X, of course.

I learned just how much my strength had increased since the start of round 1.  I learned that I really, really need 25′s.  I may try some curls at 30 lbs next week, but 20′s were feeling a tad bit light.  I prefer to move up in 5 pound increments, but we’ll see how 10 works.

I still have a bit of a pinch in my left shoulder that I could feel on some of the rows.  Hopefully the chiropractor can help with some of that.

I’m still a bit dissappointed in myself with Ab Ripper X.  I really thought I should be doing better on it than what I am.

But in thinking through this and my goals, I began to research starvation mode and finding the fat burning zone.  I believe that part of my problem may be a bit of fatigue from not enough calories as well as the general soreness from starting another round.  But I did learn that I’m a bit under my target calorie intake (300 or so) as far as my meal plan, so I am probably going to step back up to a full Level 2 eating (7 protein, 1 carb, 1 fat, 3 veggies, 1 fruit, more snacks, etc).

Right now I’m eating at an inbetween level, reaching for 2k calories a day.  And I think I’m way under because of it.

I’m going to give myself through the middle of next week to see how energy level is during the workout.  Plyo will be a really good test since I would have been on the diet over 1 full week at that point.
