So thankful for Insanity Cardio Recovery today.
After 2 nights of storms, rough sleep, I was glad to get to bed early last night and have a shorter routine today, and something less intense. Although, recovery was causing my legs to burn like crazy in the squats/lunges sequence.
So a good time to have recovery come up. Tonight, my goal is to get rest again and push hard during my routine tomorrow. No storms tonight!
Nutrition was good today. Very proud of recovering from two days of less than stellar consumption.

I hate Insanity Cardio Recovery. It’s not because I don’t like the workout, but it makes me realize how weak I am in some positions. I guess it is like Yoga in a way, but I just do not get as much benefit as Yoga. Holding deep squats, squeezing legs while in that spot, deep lunges, etc, all just make my legs burn.
I’ve got to improve at things like this.
Nutrition was pretty solid today. I did have an meal as far as healthy ingredients, somewhat. Tonight I was at a small group meeting and we were served a very good baked spaghetti, a salad, garlic bread, and desert. I had a moderate, controlled portion of the spaghetti, although I would have loved to have more (was VERY good). I did have a good amount of salad with just light amounts of dressing. In fact, I doubled up on the salad on seconds. I figure the veggies are the best thing I could consume in that setting.
I skipped the bread though. White bread, buttered, while yummy, just doesn’t provide any nutritional value to me. And for the desert, I had one small bite of my wife’s. Let’s just say, I wish I was not so strict (it was very, very good).
But I felt responsible. I felt like I did the right things as far as what I ate.
Tomorrow is back to the grind…looking forward to pushing hard again!

Didn’t get to blog about Insanity last night as my wife and I were with a ladies’ fit club talking nutrition and Turbo Fire. So, here’s two days worth of updates in one blog post:
Yesterday – Cardio Power and Resistance. WOW. Legs were still feeling Monday’s workout, so the warm-up was a bit tougher. It’s a short workout but not easy by any stretch of the imagination. Nutrition was great.
Today – Cardio Recovery. I swear that “Recovery” really means “Slow, agonizing torture.” I mean, burpees, slow squats, holding squats and lunges, and then pulsing…not my idea of a recovery day, but I trust Shaun T and the folks at Beachbody to have a purpose behind this workout. Nutrition was great minus supper. I had pizza. It’s the result of getting off work really late. But, it was a controlled amount (and these slices of pizza are not calorie dense. If anything, I might have under-ate by a bit, but I’ll take that chance).
So there’s my catch-up post. Not sure about lunch tomorrow, so still have to figure something out there.

It’s amazing to me how a routine like Insanity Cardio Recovery can make me sweat (similar to P90X Yoga X), but it does. Squats, pulses, lunge, pulses, leg lifts, all of that really works me over. I’m still working on getting better with this routine, including being able to hold the lunges and squats more as well as some of the funky stretch moves.
By the way you’ll notice to the right I’ve added a newsletter to GetFitWithBrent.com. I’ve written a very simple 7 step report on losing weight that you may find helpful as you work through P90X or Insanity (or if you are just starting out wondering what to do).

There is only one thing that could make an Insanity routine tougher….doing it without any A/C and high amounts of humidity in the house.
And that’s how Cardio Recovery was for me today. Granted, it was only Recovery, but the high humidity made this routine that much tougher. I progressed a bit on the squats and lunges, but still have to improve on that. I’m amazed that when I do this routine how fast it goes by.
Today was another awesome eating day. 2,300 calories today, so just barely short but nothing to be concerned with. Tomorrow brings the fun stuff: Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs back to back.
