Insanity Day 40 – Max Interval Circuit

May 12th, 2011

Today I set a goal with my Insanity workout:  I wanted to burn 1000 calories during Max Interval Circuit.  Sadly, I only burned 813.  I felt I pushed pretty good, but definitely some room for improvement in there.  Near the end was rough, but I think I’ll be able to push even harder next week.

And I love this workout.  I think it is my favorite of all the Insanity workouts.  It pushes you, it works total body, but it is a bit easier to pace on since the power moves and cardio moves are spaced out well.

Nutrition was spot on, if not a bit below calories goals.  That may come back to haunt me tomorrow, but I had to resist the urge to eat more at supper than what I allot for just because I thought I was under for the day.  I’ll take that chance.

I’ll measure on Saturday and then decide if I can continue on this path or if I need to increase calories.  2400 seems to be working well for me right now, but the real story comes in the “tale of the tape” (and calipers!).

Insanity Day 36 – Fit Test AND Max Interval Circuit

May 8th, 2011

So I got sick of writing about the same routine over, and over, and over again….so, I just quit writing for a few days, took some time with my family instead, and now it’s back to business.   Hope you all didn’t miss me too much!

Today began the hard month:  Month 2 of Insanity is anything BUT easy.

When it starts out with the Fit Test and THEN throws you into a 59 minute workout, you know you are in trouble.  And that’s what today did.

Fit test results are as follows:

Switch Kicks: 64-69-84 +20
Power Jacks: 50-69-70 +20
Power Knees: 93-106-118 +25
Power Jumps: 32-48-50 +18
Globe Jumps: 6-11-12 +6
Suicide Jumps: 12-21-20 +8 (down 1 from last time though)
PU Jacks: 33-38-39 +6
LP Obliques: 41-67-74 +33

Suicide jumps were not good.  I never felt like I got into a rhythm with those at all.  It was probably because I was gasping for air (didn’t eat well at all yesterday, combined with a big push…and you get a lot of exhaustion).

So after the test, I took a few minutes to fix a recovery drink, take about half of it (leaving the other half for the workout), and then jumped into Max Interval Circuit.  I honestly forgot how hard, yet fun, this routine is.  59 minutes of interval training is brutal, but a good burn.

1.5 hours and 1220 calories later, I was burned out!

To make things interesting for tomorrow, I’m under my calorie goal…so will be interesting to see how I feel in the morning.  Tomorrow begins my first full day of adjusting my meals to be more like the Asylum meal plan (with just more calories throughout the day).  We’ll see how it goes for a week, remeasure, and then decide from there if I need to increase calories or not.

Insanity Day 44 – Max Interval Circuit

February 22nd, 2011

Today was Insanity day 44 – Max Interval Circuit.  With my wife throwing me a birthday party yesterday, I did not eat nearly as well as what I needed to.  I felt it this morning.  Energy was lower, moving slower, more winded, etc.  This is a tough routine to not eat well and still do.

On top of that, my abs were still sore from the additional P90X Ab Ripper X workout I threw in there.

Being a bit more tired today, I plan to retire early tonight and get some additional sleep.

Insanity Day 59 – Max Interval Circuit

June 16th, 2010

Today was Insanity Day 59 – Max Interval Circuit.  Man, I was feeling AWESOME this morning once I got going.  I felt a bit of tiredness in my thighs at first, but as I progressed, I felt more energetic.

I had burned a LOT of calories through the first circuit.

In the second circuit, I slightly tweaked a muscle in my lower left back.  Nothing serious, just enough to feel and slow me down quite a bit.  So instead of the 900+ calorie burn I was aiming for today, I ended up with another 850 calorie burn and a very sore back.

Now…

I’m not one to rely too much on the scale on a daily basis, but I have been weighing myself daily to monitor how my new nutrition was working out for me.  And today, I weighed in at my lowest point yet…184.2.

So the new nutrition is working so far.  I’ll weigh again tomorrow and see where I stand.  I’ll be honest…I’ll be quite upset with myself if I drop more this last week, knowing I could have been burning like this all along!

Insanity Day 40 And 41 – Max Interval Circuit and Max Interval Plyo

May 30th, 2010

This being my birthday weekend, I feel behind blogging.  But I can recall this:

Insanity day 40 was Max Interval Circuit.  I was feeling much better this morning and decided it was time to push.  In 60 minutes and 915 calories later, I was drenched in sweat, exhausted, and feeling good that I could push that hard.  Don’t get me wrong, I could still push harder, and I plan to this week.

Insanity Day 41 was Max Interval Plyo.  If you want a grueling routine, this is it…so much fun, but so hard.  Some of this is a bit less cardio and more focused form movements for strength, but still will fatigue your body.  I love how at the end you hit the Level 3 drills…at the end….after being put through the ringer…but a fun challenge.  My goal is to get through all 32 push-ups on all 3 sets of intervals by the end of this round.  Oh yeah, only 715 calories burned according the HR monitor, but I’m sure that doesn’t take into account the billions of push-ups in this routine (I just thought P90X Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps were killing me on push-ups).

With that, I ended week 1 of month 2 and weighed down a full pound.  Not bad.  I’m having to watch myself this weekend as my birthday was the 29th and it’s been a long celebration.  Still waking up to crush out Max Cardio Conditioning in the morning.
