Insanity today was quite a challenge. Not that it was hard, but rather I felt like I was having a hard time getting my heart rate up. Calorie burn only ended in the upper 400′s but my rate never got to 170. Maybe this was a good sign, or maybe I was just a bit more tired than what I thought.
Nutrition was good today. I stayed right on track the entire day with how often I ate and the amounts I ate.

Today was a fun Insanity day….Pure Cardio.
Forget intervals. Shaun T just decides to kick your butt for 15 minutes straight, not including the warm-up of course. This routine has always been my nemesis. My goal is to build enough endurance to hang through the entire thing without stopping. I’m close, but my thighs have some catching up.
Today, actually, my problem was more my heart rate. I kept showing well above 170, which is not a zone I like to hang out in too much. Not that I think it is counter-productive to my goals, but that heart rate zone burns you out very, very fast. I don’t mind in the 160′s for prolonged periods of time, but hanging above 170 is just too difficult to handle without bringing it down some.
Nutrition was very good today. I did have 3 french fries. But I had a bit more exercise today than normal (oldest kid started softball, and I’m helping coach. Imagine chasing balls around from kids 6 and under…that is what I did for almost an hour).
So a bit more of a burn.
Only 5 days in, and I can already tell some differences in some areas. Will be interesting to see what day 63 holds for me.

Today was Insanity Day 22 – Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs. These doubles days are no joke. Pure Cardio is a challenge in itself. After the busy weekend I had, I could tell I was still a bit tired from it all. Still pushed as hard as I could and did feel a bit better today in how I was able to push.
My goal for today was closely hit. My goal was 2200 – 2400 calories. According to what I calculated, from the meals I had 2200 and between 100 – 200 from my recovery drink. So I’m closer to the zone I want to be in. I felt less hungry between meals, but felt perfectly hungry when it came time to eat. I figure in the next 2-3 days my body will catch up and will crave food again. I have a feeling by the time all is said and done I’ll be getting close to 2,800 calories.
And I think not eating enough slowed some of my progress. I’m close to an ideal weight at 188 (last good measurement). My goal is 170-175 at the end, so it’s time to get my nutrition in order and push harder.

Insanity Pure Cardio and Insanity Cardio Abs combined is one heck of a workout!
Pure Cardio is bad enough…I was able to push harder today throughout the routine, although I still have to take breaks. I think the extra calories really helped. Cardio Abs just burns…and burns bad!
I burned just under 800 calories between Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs combined, so not a bad little routine.

Insanity Day 9 was a killer….Pure Cardio! This routine is no joke. After doing a routine yesterday afternoon, not eating that well over the weekend, and then doing this, lets just say I struggled. That 15 minute stretch is rough. By the time the final couple of moves hit, I was gasping, taking too many breaks, sweat dripping, etc.
Today I ate super clean…100% on the diet, at the 1700 calorie mark. I had a Shakeology shake at lunch and took my P90X supplements, so I should be recharged tomorrow once I get a good night’s sleep.

Insanity got really insane on day 5 with Pure Cardio. In the texting world, this would be described as OMG!
10 minutes intense warm-up, some stretching, and then 15 minutes of hard core cardio. OUCH! I was exhausted, gasping for breath, digging for energy. This routine is going to take some work to get really up for it.
I’m really loving these workouts, though. I like the challenge. All of this is tough for me. After all, I still have 20-30 lbs at least to get into ideal range on weight, so I’m carrying quite a bit of extra flab around. But I like it. It pushes me like I’ve never been pushed before. I cannot wait to see day 60 results!
What was amazing was the calorie read on this…over 700 calories in this quick 36 minute workout. WOW!
