P90X Day 54 + The Abs Diet – Core Synergistics

February 24th, 2011

So today was an adventure.  Try doing Core Synergistics on only 5.5 hours of sleep.  Hard.  Rough.  Had to dig deep at the end.  Amazingly I felt very energized through most of it though, just some spells of telling I was not on top of my game.  I am surprised I could push that hard.

Boy, it felt good to make NO EXCUSES and do the workout.

And today I was full of energy all day, which was incredible.  I really thought I’d be tired all day from the lack of sleep.  I credit the fact that exercise makes you sleep better (so my 5.5 hours was concentrated sleep)  and the fact that I drink Shakeology.

I know, I know, sounds promotional, right?  But…it is 8:26pm.  I’ve worked 8 hours today.  I’ve cooked supper.  I’ve run an errand.  I’ve worked my Team Beachbody business.  I helped my kids get ready for bed.

Now I’m blogging, and I’m not ready to go to bed yet.

Pre-workotu snack:  1/2 banana on 1 slice whole wheat with 1/2 tbsp natural PB
Breakfast – Shakeology
Snack #1 – 1.5oz Raisins
Lunch – Turkey on whole wheat with romaine and low fat cheese, V8, and an apple
Snack #2 – 1oz Almonds
Supper – Lean meat spaghetti on whole wheat protein noodles
Snack #3 – Protein shake

P90X Day 89 – Core Synergistics, And Shakeology Excitement

April 16th, 2010

Today was P90X Day 89, Core Synergistics.  I spent yesterday afternoon on a golf course and had to make a late night (well, late for me) run to pick up something that I had left in someone else’s vehicle…and that someone else just happened to live out of town.

So, I was a bit more tired physically today.  Not so bad that I did not give it a good run, but tired nonetheless.  I picked too heavy of a weight for side step lunge and reach near the beginning which also tired me a bit faster.  I dropped my weight a bit on some other things to try to work on form and reps.  It ended up being a really good workout…a really, really good sweat!

This weekend my wife and I are going to try our order of Shakeology.  I have a huge level of excitement about this, as I have heard a ton of good things from a lot of different people.

I mean, I drink protein shakes every morning, and none of them taste perfect and do not have nearly the nutrition value Shakeology has.  So I’m sure it will be great compared to what I am used to.

I will be taking photos, video, measurements, etc, this weekend, and I will probably do a video on Shakeology.  Granted I would not have had it enough to see the benefits that it has, but I will talk about the taste, how I made it, etc.

Check back here tomorrow for my P90X round 1 finally.  I’m looking forward to a great Yoga session tomorrow.

P90X Day 23 – Core Synergistics

January 26th, 2010

P90X day 23 is in the recover week (ha!) and I did Core Synergistics today.

This workout is intense. Imagine doing Plyo X, but involving your whole body more than just your legs. Yeah, it is something like that. My heart rate got up there at several points, going over 160 a few times. I stayed in the 150′s for most of it. According to the burn calculator, P90X core synergistics burned over 900 calories without doing all of the bonus round (just part of it).

And many hours later, my core is exhausted! I feel it tighter, almost fatigued.

Continuing the funny note from yesterday, my weight has dropped even more. Today is my last day on prednisone, and the half life is supposed to be 2 days. By the time day 28 rolls around I will be interested in seeing what my weight actually is. But this morning I weighed in at 204.6, after I had my recovery drink. I think 200 flat may be possible.

P90X Days 53 and 54 – X Stretch and Core Synergistics

May 9th, 2009

Catching up a bit here as Day 53 was also my daughter’s birthday.  P90X Day 53 was X Stretch.  Nothing much to report here other than I’ve noticed how flexibile I’m becoming in some areas.

P90X Day 54 was Core Synergistics.  I learned a valuable lesson here…going back to Fat Shredder was a mistake.  I was so tired during this workout.  I have very little energy during this entire routine.  It sucked as I felt I was dogging it.  So time to go back to Phase 2 diet, just at the lower level.

P90X Day 51 – Core Synergistics!

May 6th, 2009

P90x Day 51 was Core Synergistics, my favorite workout in the entire P90X collection.

If you are looking for a workout that will make you sweat and feel exhausted by the end (the good kind of exhausted), then Core Synergistics is for you.   I had completely soaked my shirt.

Since I have adjusted back to the low carb/high protein diet, I attempted to bonk but would not let myself go there.  I took a break, got the heart rate back in line, and picked back up.

Speaking of the diet, stepping down to Level 2 (phase 1) has been interesting.  I think my body is adjusting well to it and now I believe that it was a mistake going to Level 3 at the start (my burn rate should be nowhere near 20%).  So I think Level 2 is a good fit for me.  I’m going to stick with it on Phase 1 for as long as I can, but probably go to Phase 2 the last couple of weeks.

I’m at a good spot right now in my inches lost overall.   Most of the clothes I have are way too big.  Polo’s for work, jeans, shorts, you name it, they are baggy now.  I told my wife I was going to Old Navy this weekend just to try on clothes to see what fits!

P90X Day 26 – Core Synergistics

April 11th, 2009

P90X Core Synergistics is officially my favorite exercise routine.

It is intense.  In fact, it was so intense that it took 3 meals (1000+ calories) just to feel like I had eaten anything during the day.  I burned a LOT that morning, pushed hard,  and was officially exhausted.

I took a double shot of my recover drink (16 oz), a protein shake (around 500 calories), and a snack (200 calories) and into my lunch before I felt energetic again.

But what a fun, full body workout.

Tomorrow is day 27, Yoga X, and then weigh and measurement day!

P90X Day 23 – Core Synergistics

April 8th, 2009

P90X Day 23 – Core Synergistics.  What a fun workout!  Exhausting (very), but fun.  I hate that this was my first time to do it as I was trying to feel my way through the exercises and learn them.  Fortunately I get a second shot at this later in the week!

This appears to be a very good overall exercise.  My heart rate was around 75-80% during most of it, my core was getting worked, and it tired me out.

Its late for me, and I’m tired, so not much else to write tonight.  Hopefully I’ll have more to say tomorrow (Kenpo X).
