P90X + The Abs Diet – 60 Day Results Pictures And More

February 25th, 2012

So while not technically day “60″ I consider this my P90X 60 day measurments and photos using The Abs Diet as my nutritional regiment.

I had a better rate of body fat loss during this phase and shed some additional inches.  I’m going to list my starting/current measurements to give a perspective of progress made so far during this round of P90X.

Chest:
Start:  42.5″
Current:  41.0″ (-1.5″)

Neck:
Start:  15.5″
Current:  14.75″ (-0.75″)

Waist:
Start:  39.0″
Current:  36.5″ (-2.5″)

R Bicep:
Start:  13.0″
Current:  13.25″ (+0.25″)

L Bicep:
Start:  13.25″
Current:  13.5″ (+0.5″)

Hips:
Start:  38.0″
Current:  37.0″ (-1.0″)

R Thigh:
Start:  21.0″
Current:  19.25″ (-1.75″)

L Thigh:
Start:  21.25″
Current:  19.9″ (-2.25″)

Weight:
Start:  183.8 lbs
Current:  173.8 lbs (-10.0 lbs)

Body Fat:
Start:  18.95%
Current:  16.17% (-2.78%)

My body fat decreased by nearly 2% in the last 4 weeks, so the muscle build/clean eating combination is starting to kick in a bit.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the difference between days 0 and 60.

So, tomorrow starts P90X Phase 3 with Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X.  My goal is going to shift from an 8-10 rep set to 12-15, with focus on 12 reps (will shoot for 15, but want to be struggling by rep number 12).  I’m hoping that doing this will increase my fat burn over the next 5 weeks.

Thanks for following my progress…this has been a fun, exciting, and humbling journey.  I’m looking forward to finishing out this round of P90X strong and seeing where my results are in 5 weeks.

P90X Results – My P90X Transformation In 2010

February 16th, 2012

This is my P90X Transformation in 2010.  I knew I had made a lot of progress, but reviewing these pictures several months removed from when they were taken, I’m amazed at the progress I made.  No, I didn’t have a 6 pack, but that’s hard to accomplish going from a 47″ waist (or a 44″ waistline starting in 2010) to get down small enough.

This was only 9 months of work!

I can only imagine what 9 months of working out is going to do for me this year.  Granted I did gain a little bit back while I let my shoulder heal (and ate poorly…almond bark covered pretzels became like crack in my house), I’m losing at a great rate now.

I’m proud of my P90X results video to just demonstrate what can happen if someone really focuses.  My goal for 2011 is focus for all 12 months (going on a cruise in December, so must keep on it!).

So here’s my secrets to success:

1.  Push play everyday.
2.  Use Shakeology
3. Got a lot of fat to use?  Use the Beachbody Slimming Formula.
4. Eat 90% clean, but take some cheat meals here and there to keep sanity.
5.  Track results.  Pictures, measurements, etc.  Use these to keep accountable.
6.  More than anything, enjoy the journey…embrace the journey!

P90X Day 90, The Abs Diet, And Shakeology Cleanse Day 3 – 90 Day Results And Pictures

February 13th, 2012

Yesterday was P90X Day 90, so that wraps up this round.  It was also the last day of my 3 day Shakeology cleanse.  Yoga was tough at the end, but glad to get through it.

Last day of the cleanse I dropped another 1.2 pounds for a total loss of 6.2 pounds.

Now, for my P90X 90 day results.

Weight:
Start:  183.8
End:  166.6

Body Fat:
Start:  18.96%
End:  14.78%

Neck:
Start:  15.5″
End:  14.5″

Chest:
Start:  42.5″
End:  39.5″

Waist:
Start:  39″
End:  35.5″

Hips:
Start:  38″
End:  36.5″

My arms stayed almost the same, just with less fat.  My legs went down about an inch each.  Overall, a solid fat burn.

Here are just a few 0/90 day comparisons:

P90X Reviews – K.D.’s P90X Transformation And P90X Success Story

July 14th, 2011

Before

I had the privilege of having K.D. assigned to me as a customer from Beachbody back in March.  He has purchased P90X from Beachbody and was ready to do it.

I won’t rehash all his story, but here are some highlights:

The results… I feel fantastic!!! I got in the best “balanced” shape of my life, and feel better at 49 than I did at 29… honestly! I am ready to take a few days to rest right now, but will be back on the plus program in a few days. Thanks Tony, and to all of those who created the P90X program. I can honestly say, I feel like I know you guys from working out with you so much. Who would have thought that at this time last year?

And for his results?  Well, you be the judge.

After

I asked him if it would be alright if I could blog a bit about his results.  His response is a great response, and a message for anyone out there who wants to make a change:

No problem on the blog.  If it will help people get to get fired up and motivated, and to believe in the program, send to as many as possible.

Just think, this is just after one round of P90X.  Many people do multiple rounds, and he is looking at doing it with the P90X+ routines too!

Thanks K.D. for bring a great example of someone who pushed through and got results from P90X!

You can read his full story on his Team Beachbody Profile Page.

P90X Day 55 + The Abs Diet – FOY Yoga

February 25th, 2011

Ahh…end of P90X phase 2.  Finished off with Fountain Of Youth Yoga.  Cannot believe this much time has gone by with this round of P90X so far.  Crazy…seems like I had just started and was getting upset at how much strength I had lost.

But now, phase 2 is over, and there are 5 weeks left in this round.

So, it is reassessment time.

Tomorrow, I take measurements:  Full body, body fat, weight.  Weight today is 173.8, a mark of 10 pounds lost so far this round of P90X.  That was after eating my pre-workout snack, so that number may be a bit high.

For phase 3, I am making an adjustment.  My goal with phase 3 is to just blast fat, and blast it as quickly as possible and as much as possible over the 5 weeks.  So instead of focusing on 8-10 reps, I’m going to slightly lower my weight and aim for the 12-15 rep count on all exercises involving my Select Techs.  Push-ups, pull-ups, and other non-weight exercises will still be max reps.

After I take measurements I’ll figure out what my goals are for Phase 3.

Today’s nutrition is barely halfway there since I am writing this early in the day (plan to spend time with family tonight).  With the exception of supper, things are known and looking on track.  I won’t list details here since I have no idea what I’m eating for supper, but going to keep it clean.  Tomorrow is a cheat meal.

P90X Day 30 Results Pictures And Measurements

January 29th, 2011

This morning marked the official end of P90X phase 1 and time for my P90X 30 day photos and measurements.

All in all, I was pleased with the progress I made.  Here is the breakdown.

Chest:
Started – 42.5″
30 Day – 40.75″
Change – -1.75″

Neck:
Started – 15.5″
30 Day – 15.0″
Change – -.5″

Waist:
Started – 39″
30 Day – 37.5″
Change – -1.5″

R Bicep:
Started – 13.0″
30 Day – 13.5″
Change – +.5″

L Bicep:
Started – 13.25″
30 Day  – 13.5″
Change – +.25″

Hips:
Started – 38″
30 Day – 38″
Change – 0

R Thigh:
Started – 21″
30 Day  – 20.75″
Change – -.25″

L Thigh:
Started – 21.25″
30 Day – 20.5″
Change – -.75″

Weight:
Started – 183.8 lbs
30 Day – 176.6 lbs
Change – -7.2 lbs

Body Fat (7 Fold Measurement)
Started –   18.96%
30 Day – 17.92%
Change – -1.04%

So I lost 3.2 pounds of fat and 4 pounds of “other.”  Of course, other could be waste and it could be sodium.  My big concern is that “other” may include lean muscle mass.  I’m going to consult some people and see if I’m under-eating and possibly losing muscle mass.

Here are just a few of my result pictures, the befores on the left, and the afters on the right.

Here is one candid shot of me while I was on the phone with work.  I think it shows the progress in my abs a bit more:

So, 28 days down technically, so another 9 weeks left in this round.  BRING IT!

P90X Review – P90X Results And Status Through 21 Days

January 23rd, 2011

So just 3 weeks into P90X and the results are showing.  I don’t show any before/after pictures here, but here is what I have noticed:  My outer ab wall is starting to be more defined, the fat in my chest is melting off, my legs (thighs) are toning up nicely, and I”m down weight.

But it’s still early.  Yes, having “success” but the real test is in 90 days.  Come March is when the results really have to be there.  I feel good about what I’m doing.  My nutrition is getting more and more dialed in.  I’m more focused than what I’ve been in a while (maybe it’s my fascination with wanting to be a contestant on Survivor).  But more than anything, I’m having fun again.  Making exercise fun is a big plus.

P90X Results – First Two Weeks Wrap-up

January 16th, 2011

First two weeks of P90X complete! I showed some progress, which is impressive as most results come from me in weeks and four.

Lost .5″ off my waistline
Lost .5″ off my chest
Lost 5 pounds
Lost nearly 1% body fat

The biggest change is in an area that is not measured: My upper ab wall is starting to show again. I’m excited now that I’m starting week 3 because this is when the changes really kick in for me.

P90X Day 60 – Yoga X And A Major Weight Milestone Hit

August 26th, 2010

Today was Yoga X in P90X.  I love this workout, although I did cut a small 7 minute portion out due to time.  I hated to do it…I really HATED doing it, but simply had to get it done by 7:30am so I could get ready for work.

There were a few sections today that challenged me more than most days I do this routine, but I’m okay with that.  I was sweating like a crazy fool (amazing how you can move so little with Yoga and sweat like crazy).  But it always feels good to do Yoga.

And today, I measured at a major milestone:  Today, the scale weighed 172, which is 50 pounds under where I weighed myself at the gym at work at the start of 2009 (weighed in at 222 there).  Losing 50 pounds is an amazing feeling.  I feel great physically, I have a lot more energy, and it has given me the gift of being able to do more for my family.

So here’s a treat:  Here is a side-by-side comparison of me when I first started P90X and what I look like now.

P90X 90 Day Results – P90X Works

April 17th, 2010

Today I wrapped up day 90 of P90X with Yoga X.

I’m proud to have completed this again, as so many people start the first time and simply do not finish.

Here are the basics of my stats:

Lost 18.25″ of fat.  Lost 18+ pounds.  Lost over 9% body fat.

Now I still have a long ways to go.  P90X works great at getting somewhat fit guys fairly ripped in one round, but simply does not work that way for obese guys (which I was obese….key word is was).  But I’m going to work hard with Insanity starting Monday to cut more fat and start working on leaning up a bit more.  This is going to take most of 2010 to get to where I want to go, but I’m okay with that.

Here is one picture and some stats to give an idea of what I did in one round:

Starting                                    90 Day

Neck:               17.5″                                       16
Chest:              48″                                           43.25″
Waist:              44.5″                                       40.5″
R Bicep:          14.5″                                        14″
L Bicep:          15″                                            14″
Hips:                41″                                            38.5″
R Thigh:          23.5″                                       21″
L Thigh:          23.5″                                       22″
Weight :          208.6                                   190.4
Body Fat:       30.4% (approx)                21.1%

So not a bad 90 days for me.  I had my frustrations and interruptions (getting the flu really through off my momentum), but good results!  These are my starting stats for Insanity on Monday.
