P90X Day 11 Of Round 2 – Yoga X And P90X Meal Recipe

July 1st, 2010

Ahhh…How I love P90X Yoga X days.  Takes away the pounding, focuses building different strengths, and allows me to stretch out a bit.  Did all 92 minutes again, which I am slowly getting better at the second half of the moving obstacles.  There are a few things I still struggle with, and I’m working on improving.  The key is to push myself as much as I can each time I do this routine.

I really wish I would have worn a Bodybug or heart rate monitor and checked out what my burn was.  I know at one point my heart was really pounding, holding a pose as strong as I could.

Tonight, we are eating one of my favorite P90X friend meals – Chicken Fajitas.

Here’s a bit of how we do it:

Fresh, homemade pico de gallo
Fresh, homemade salsa
6 oz chicken breast tenderloins
2% cheese
Whole grain/Whole Wheat tortilla (I prefer Carb Balance, high fiber, 200 calories).
Onion and bell pepper

I use 1 tbsp of EVOO to “grease” the pan.  Cook veggies first, chicken second (with or without the veggies), and then have my own special spice blend I use to give a more fajita taste, with just a splash of lime juice.

It breaks down like this by the time I’m done:

1 Fat
1 Carb
2 Protein
1 Dairy
2 Veggies
1 Condiment (if I use low fat/no fat sour cream)

So it’s a heavy meal, but so good, ends up really being around 600 calories total with the ingredients I use.

Try it, it’s GOOOOD!

By the way, now is a great time for me to tell you this:  If you are doing P90X, having results, and telling others about it, don’t you think you should get paid for those efforts?  With Team Beachbody, you have just that opportunity.  Instead of your friends purchasing from the infomercial, they can buy from you.  You save them some shipping cost and you make a few extra bucks in the process.

Plus, you can save 25% on any Beachbody products you want.  Recovery drink?  25% off.  Shakeology?  25% off.  Vitamins?  25% off.  Pull-up bar?  25% off.

P90X Day 4 of Round 2 – Yoga X

June 24th, 2010

So I promised a Yoga X video, but could not deliver.  I over slept, so P90x Yoga X was a bit rushed this morning.  I did do all 92 minutes, which those of you who have followed my blog know I usually cut out a section.  I decided to work hard on doing the full disks each time unless something major comes up time wise.

So here are my thoughts:

1.  I forgot how hard this workout was.

2.  I really should have gone to bed a bit sooner last night.

3.  The first 45 minutes are brutal…but feel so good trying!

I’m going to work on accomplishing a few things, such as crane and shoulder stands, in this round.  I’ve never fully attempted crane, but making it a goal.

And want to know what crane is?

Be looking for a video sometime down the road!

Ate well, missed my fat serving, but tried to make it up with proteins and veggies.  Not quite the same…but the meat wasn’t as lean as chicken at least!

P90X Day 56 – Yoga X And End Of Phase 2

May 10th, 2009

P90X Day 56 was Yoga X…the last workout at the end of phase 2.  Today I felt was one of my best Yoga experiences yet.  I pushed hard, I sweat like CRAZY, and got a lot out of it.  I think I found my “happy place” with Yoga, so to speak.  But it is something I plan on repeating every time I do the routine form here on.

It also marks the end of Phase 2 for me, which means tomorrow is a measurement day and picture day.

I’ll be posting pictures and results.  The scale should read somewhere around 200 lbs and I hope to have lost 2-3″ more in various places.

P90X Day 39 – Yoga X

April 24th, 2009

P90X Day 39 was Yoga X.  I had some stomach issues early on in the exercise and had to pause.  Because of this I was running behind and cut one series out (about 15 minutes), but still had over 75 minutes of intense Yoga.  My flexibility is getting there (if you review my fit test, I was 4 inches away from my toes, now I’m past my toes.

Not much else to write here other than I took a “sneak peak” measurement and noticed I have not lost anything.  I’m not alone in my group, though.  At least one other in the group noticed the same thing.  I’m hoping the CLA starts helping by the end of this phase.

P90X Day 32- Yoga X, P90X Phase 2 Diet Research

April 16th, 2009

P90X today was Yoga X for me.  It started out really, really bad.  Not sure what the deal was, but I was off balance during the easy stuff.  The vinyasas did not feel right and nothing felt right.  It was an off morning.  I took out one 11 minute section of it because it deals more with balancing which I knew I would not be able to handle this morning.

Needless to say, it was a struggle.  I made it through around 75-80 minutes of the 90 minute routine.  Yoga is not supposed to feel like this or be this much of a struggle (hard, yes, but not a struggle).

So I’m looking forward to P90X Legs and Back tomorrow (along with Ab Ripper, of course) to break out of the funk of today.  I’ve been icing my knee as a precautionary move.

Doing a lot of research on the diet plan during this phase.  I notice that a lot of people’s major muscle gains/fat loses come during this 4 weeks.  So far, though, myself and several others in our group on the P90X look and feel as if we are bloated.  This may be due to the change going from 1 carb serving to 3 carb servings per day.

The only cure for this (in my mind) is stick to the diet and push really hard in every exercise, going to near exhaustion on every rep and keeping the heart rate in the zone at all tims during cardio routines.

I’m still debating adding Cardio X or another form of cardio on resistance days.  My only hesitation comes from giving the body enough time to rest before waking up to another cardio routine.

There is a tennis tournament coming up the first of May that I’m considering playing in for the sake of it.  It’ll be interesting seeing conditioning if I decide to do so.

P90X Day 27 – Yoga X and End Of Recovery Week

April 12th, 2009

P90X was a gruelling Yoga X workout.  It was made more difficult by the fact that my wife and kids were in the room with me.  My girls (3 and under) were in the way some, wife was dealing with them, and I was trying to keep my mind clear and focus on the routine.

But I made it through without going completely nuts.

That marked the end of the recovery week.  It was a week with some hard work and an easier day (X Stretch day).

Tomorrow I will post my pictures and measurements.
