P90X Day 4 (Round 2 of 2011) – FOY Yoga

August 11th, 2011

Today was P90X Day 4 (round 2).  I chose to do Fountain of Youth Yoga instead of the full Yoga X.  Yet another rough night of sleep with the girls as storms blew in overnight.  I just couldn’t wake up at 5am to do it, so woke up at 5:30am and did the shorter one.  Still a good workout and good stretch.  Next week will be Yoga X for sure.

Nutrition was good, until tonight.  Had a meeting at church where they were providing a meal.  Thought I’d be safe but showed up to…..PIZZA!  Love me some pizza, but decided that since I would only have 2 moderate slices for around 500 calories.  Not bad.  Just not great, and definitely not filling enough.

I’m way under on my calories this week, which means next week will become important to step it up.  I need to hit right at 2,400.  My body operates best, performs best, and burns best on this amount.

P90X Day 27 + The Abs Diet – Fountain Of Youth Yoga

January 28th, 2011

If there was ever a day I needed to do Yoga, today was the day.

Late night last night with work, chaos all around, and needed P90X yoga day to “calm the swinging monkey” as Tony said on a call some time ago.  Unfortunately, while getting the monkey to chill, the phone rings for work.  Ugg.  Oh well, it’s part of my job, and I’m happy to handle it.  I guess.

But this Yoga routine is fun.  It’s nice plugging in the DVD knowing that in 48 minutes or so you’ll be done as opposed to 92 minutes of Yoga X.   Don’t get me wrong, I really do like Yoga X, minus the length of it.

Nutrition today was decent.  Could have been better, could have been worse.  Ate probably a bit higher than what I should have at supper tonight and had a small slice of cookie cake, which I did not enjoy the sweetness of.

With that, I end phase 1.  My wife will be helping me do measurements in the morning.  Hoping to see some great results!

P90X Yoga X – Day 18 Of Round 2

July 8th, 2010

Today was P90X Yoga X, and honestly was a bit of a failure day.  Not that I just didn’t do it, but I was sick to my stomach this morning when I did it.  I did about 15 minutes, got sick, came back to do around 20 minutes more, and then was just too weak to continue (was shaking with weakness, just not good).

So, not a perfect day, but that’s okay.  I never beat myself up on days like this, because life happens.  I just pick myself up, hope to feel better, and hit it again hard tomorrow morning.

P90X Day 85 – Yoga X – Final Recovery Week

April 12th, 2010

Today was P90X day 85 – Yoga X.  It begins week 13, which is my final recovery week.  Not a lot to report.  I have come to love Yoga, how it makes me feel, the flexibility it has given me.

I spent some time tonight digging through the Insanity nutrition plan.  I’m working on laying out meals to make those first two weeks.  My goal is to follow the diet plan as close as possible.  Of course, when traveling, that gets difficult, but I’m going to attempt to hold true to it.

P90X Days 81 and 82 – Yoga X, Back and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

April 9th, 2010

P90X day 81 was Yoga X.  I feel like Yoga, although a bit odd at first, has really helped in not only flexibility but the ability for my body to heal itself.  I strained a shoulder muscle last Friday, did the 13 minutes of Yoga at the start of Cardio X (with a light massage from my wife before that), and it has not bothered me since.  This was a great workout, and I have it two more times next week in the recovery week.

P90X day 82 (today) was Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X.  Legs and Back has always been my worst routine.  Maybe it is because of the extra weight…I don’t know.  But I always struggle through it and get as winded in it as I do the cardio routines.  Today I worked on form and increasing reps and did fairly well, although fairly exhausted.

Ab Ripper was a good run today.  I was very tired from the L&B routine, but pushed hard after the first few moves (the ones that work your legs and lower core).  I improved on Mason Twists, going to 44 out of the 50 they actually do.

Tomorrow I will do Cardio X again, as I am traveling with my wife today on a one night getaway.

P90X End Of Week 11 Catchup

April 5th, 2010

The end of last week got really busy so I did not have a chance to write much on this blog about how my P90X workouts were going.  So here is a quick post recapping those days.

Last Thursday was Yoga X.  This was the first workout I’ve been able to complete (minus the 17 minutes I usually cut out) since having the flu.   It was tough still at times, particularly in the beginning.  Legs were shaking and it took all I had to hold poses.

Friday was Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X.  I STRUGGLED this day.  Energy was lower than Thursday for some reason (got to bed a bit later, which probably had some to do with it), and made this workout very, very tough.  I fought through it and had to dig a bit for the strength in ABX, but did it pretty well.

Saturday, I decided to mix things up a bit.   Instead of doing Kenpo X, I did Cardio X.  I personally like Cardio X a lot more then Kenpo.

It’s shorter.

It keeps my heart rate up consistently.

It’s shorter.

Its more variety.

Did I mention that it’s shorter?

I don’t really pay a lot of attention to length of the cardio routines, but honestly, there are parts of Kenpo X that simply do not do it for me.  But all of Cardio X works me, including the first bit of Yoga.  My HR stayed in the 150′s for everything outside of Yoga (which still kept it in the 140′s, as I was pushing hard), but was not uncommon to go from 160 – 170 either.  43 minutes burned over 700 calories.

I’ll post a bit later about today’s Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps workout.

P90X – Major Catch-Up Post – On Recovery Week 2 Now

February 22nd, 2010

Wow, I’m very, VERY behind in blogging about my P90X progress. I apologize, life just sometimes gets in the way.

Last week I took a trip and did not get back until late Monday, which put me back too late (and too tired) to press play. So, instead, I pushed everything back a day and did not take a rest day. Last week was grueling battling from the weekend trip and being tired, but felt good about the progress.

Today is P90X Day 49 Yoga X. It was the start of my second recovery week. Again, I get more tired from my weekends than I do from my normal days, so I was a bit tired. I also did not have a very good diet day yesterday, which made me nauseated going to bed last night and did not sleep well. I struggled heavily during Yoga today, but struggled through it to the end.

Speaking of diet, I’ve learned that I have to add calories. I’ve gone to two double snacks now instead of just a single and it seems to be doing the trick. I hope it keeps up.

Measurements and pictures at the end of this week. I know I’ve lost a decent amount across my chest but not so much in the waistline. I hope to see a change in my back fat as well.

P90X Day 27 – Yoga X

January 31st, 2010

P90X day 27, the last day of phase 1, was Yoga X. Was up late working, and felt very weak and sluggish by the time I got up to do this. I should have eaten and then exercised, but did not for whatever reason. Instead, I completely dogged this. Not happy with myself.

P90X Day 22 – Recovery Week Yoga X

January 26th, 2010

P90X day 22 begins my recovery week with Yoga X. I’m still recovering a bit from the prednisone and having some odd side effects, but I hope to overcome them. This morning I was still a bit tired from everything but did well with Yoga, considering all. I’m really enjoying this routine.

Funny note about the steroid: It will really mess with your weight.

I started this round of P90X at 208 (well, 208 and some change). I got down to 206 before the rash and steroids kicked in. I got up to 210.2 on the prednisone on last Thursday and Friday morning (weighing myself for kicks and grins). Saturday it read 208 and today read 206….fun times!

P90X Day 18 – Yoga X (On Little Sleep)

January 22nd, 2010

P90X Day 18 was Yoga X, and boy was I glad it was only Yoga today. I only got around 4.5 hours of sleep last night due to a crying baby and remembering at 2:20am that I needed to get something started for work.

I felt I like I am getting more limber every time I do this routine, which is a good thing. But, being so tired, I also felt like there were parts of it I completely dogged. I ended up cutting over 15 minutes due to no energy from little sleep.

Lesson to be learned here: In order to push yourself on P90x, you need sleep.
